The South East Championships took place on Sunday, kindly hosted by Target Shooting School and held at Bookham Rifle Club.
The event was a friendly, welcoming competition which saw new and existing athletes enjoy the sport, give it a go and qualify for the National Series Final.
Christopher Todd took the gold in the Youth Men category, with an impressive time of 5 mins 55seconds, ahead of James Goldsworth and Bobby Foster in silver and bronze respectfully, who all qualified for the National Final in September.
The fastest time of the day was Jamie Davies (5mins 7 seconds) who took the Junior Men’s title.
The athletes who took part in the Men’s and Women’s event, had differing levels of Target Sprint experience but on the day, it was Liam Grigg who claimed the top Men’s podium position and Josie Murray in the Women’s. Nick Jubert recorded the fastest time in the Men’s 46yrs+ category and all the men successfully qualified for the National Final.
Jeanette Leivers, Director of Target Shooting School and the Event Coordinator said; “I was thrilled with how it went, despite the summer rain! It was the first time the South East event had been held at Bookham Rifle Club. The layout worked really well. Our planning and practice paid off!
“I was chuffed to see Christopher do such a good time, as we’ve been working together preparing for the competition particularly with his shooting rhythm and routine. He’s such a talent and I look forward to seeing him competing alongside the other athletes from around the country at the National Final.”
British Shooting would like to thank Bookham Rifle Club for accommodating the event at short notice. And Jeanette and her team from Target Shooting School for making the day fun for all. We look forward to continuing working with Target Shooting School to develop Target Sprint in the region.
