The British Shooting Target Sprint National Series is returning for 2018!
Reaching its climax in 2017 at the Yate Outdoor Sports Complex in Bristol, the National Series has taken the nation by storm since it was held for the first time just two years ago.
The 2018 Series looks set to be bigger and better than ever with eight qualifying events leading up to the final, which means there will be an additional two qualifiers compared to the 2017 competition.
The decision to increase the qualifying rounds was to allow the sport to be showcased more nationally, with Wales being amongst the locations. This means improved national coverage ahead of the Final which is scheduled for Saturday 6th October 2018 at the Target Sprint Regional Centre, Yate Outdoor Sports Complex.
Although two qualifying dates and venues are still to be confirmed, we’re excited announce the schedule for 2018

The National Series 2018 will be run under a similar system to 2017, with Youth, Junior and Senior categories for both women and men competing for National Series Champion.
Athletes will predominantly be using the 49.5mm knockdown targets over a 10m distance in the standing position only and the three running stages will take place over a 400m distance each. The 2018 Rules are available HERE.
The top five athletes at each of the qualifying events in the individual categories will win a quota place and qualify for the National Final. Athletes can compete in as many National Series qualifying events as they wish, but can only attain one quota place. If an athlete has already attained a qualifying place, the quota place(s) will roll down the leader boards at that qualifying event.
Gorgs Geikie, British Shooting Events & Commercial Coordinator said: “I’m so excited to announce the dates for the 2018 Series. These Championships are growing year on year, and it’s amazing to see the progress the athletes are making.
“We at British Shooting have also launched the Target Sprint Safety Certificate, which we require athletes to have attained during, or prior to, competitions in order to compete at a British Shooting event.
“We and the NSRA recommend other Event/Activity Organisers adopt the TS Safety Certificate scheme which can be signed off only by TS Educators, TS Leaders and British Shooting authorised personnel.”
