Following the weekend’s Educators workshop, which included sessions from Martin Beard (Head GB TS Coach – TS specific Shooting Technique), Mark Lodge (GB TS Squad Sprint Coach – TS Sprinting advice) and Paul Langford (Air Cadets – Communication & Learning styles), this team of educators aim to support the national rollout of the Target Sprint Coaching Programme.
Due to the combined nature of Target Sprint including both shooting and running, the TS Coaching Programme importantly brings these aspects together, educating and informing people of the current learnings.
British Shooting Commercial and Events Co-Ordinator, Gorgs Geikie, said: “I was thrilled with the buzz and atmosphere in the room on Saturday, created by this first team of Target Sprint Educators. The knowledge about TS is evolving so much and it’s brilliant to have this team of educators on board.
“With their combined shooting and sprinting knowledge, our educators will deliver TS Leaders courses around the country, ensuring everyone benefits from our team’s experience and knowledge.
“We want to support TS Leaders and the general TS community with the most up to date coaching information and ongoing opportunities, to ensure we maximise the potential of our athletes.”
The educators are an integral part of the TS team, particularly due to the infancy of the sport in the UK. The educator team are an important means of communication to the Target Sprint community and we value their support and recognise their enthusiasm.
Dave Froggett, NSRA, said: “I particularly found the knowledge and experience about ‘Target Sprint specific shooting techniques’ fascinating from Head Coach Martin. There are some striking differences between the basic Target Sprint shooting techniques to the other precision shooting disciplines.”
