The new Target Sprint Organisers course is a huge success. Our community of knowledgeable individuals is growing rapidly enabling coordination of more activity and hubs, helping to share our sport with a wider audience.
Thanks to our Educators Paul Langford and Rob Shawyer delivering the course remotely, we have welcomed nearly 90 new Organisers to the growing Target Sprint community. The flexibility of using online platforms to deliver the course has meant that sessions have ranged from one to one delivery up to groups of 14 at a time and allowed far more accessibility for potential candidates.
Initial take-up for the courses came from within the existing Target Sprint community but quickly spread to the wider shooting world following articles in a number of publications.
By far the biggest take-up however came from the Cadet Forces Organisations. Last year saw the initial Cadet Forces Championships in Target Sprint and, coordinated by the Cadet Council for Rifle Shooting, all four branches jumped at the chance to get involved. Candidates ranged from civilian instructors on individual Units to senior Headquarters staff, with all levels in between.
The enthusiasm all the attendees had for Target Sprint really shone through and their interest to deliver the sport with their networks is a very exciting prospect for the future.
Paul Langford said: “We’re delighted with the uptake of this course, and to be already working with a number of newly qualified Organisers who are in the planning stages of developing their own Hubs.”
