After just a couple of weeks following the launch of the new dynamic Target Sprint Organisers Course, we already have nearly 10 fully qualified Organisers and many more enquiries!
Welcome to the community!
The new online course has attracted a varied audience, from post A – Level students wishing to boost their experiences, skills and CV’s, to adults already familiar with Target Sprint and those new to the sport wanting to understand how to get activity up and running in their schools, clubs and groups.
The partnerships that British Shooting have with the cadets via CCRS (Council for Cadet Rifle Shooting), Schools and the Scouts are exciting examples of audiences who are taking up this opportunity.
We’re also delighted to see our Regional Centres promoting and benefiting from the course. It’s enabling them to not only broaden their own team of people and knowledge, but also expand the number of Hubs and therefore activity in their regions.
A young lady who has recently taken up the opportunity to become a Target Sprint Organiser is Emily Shawyer. Emily is no stranger to participating in the sport, but like us all, has been locked down due to Covid-19. Emily’s next steps in life are taking her to university to study event management, so being a fully qualified Target Sprint Organiser will enable her to coordinate Target Sprint activities as well as continuing to participate in the sport.
Emily went on to say: “The course is a fantastic idea. Having the video tutorial was a great way to give information on how to plan a safe and fun event. It will encourage people to take part, as they will be confident with the knowledge and tools they’ll have gained as a result of the course.
“The accessible course format with clear information means it can be run when convenient for you and due to the current circumstances, it’s nice to be able to do something positive that will benefit the sport. I’m excited to start helping others plan events and planning my own!”
We’re thrilled with the positive feedback we’ve received from participants who have completed this dynamic course. In particular we’re delighted to hear that our new Organisers feel ready and raring to go and coordinate Target Sprint activity.
We would like to thank again Rob Shawyer and Paul Langford our Educators delivering the course, helping to enable our sport to be ready-steady-go when lockdown is lifted.
