Ready, steady, GO!
Athletes aiming to be part of the first GB team to take part in the Target Sprint World Championships, brought their trainers to Rugeley to compete in the first stage of the British Shooting selection process.
Target Sprint consists of 3 x 400m running interspersed with 2 shooting sessions. The shooting element is to hit 5 drop down targets set at a distance of 10m using an air rifle.
The athletes from the first Ranking event have made their mark on the new GB Ranking Lists and are now eligible for possible selection to represent Great Britain.
Congratulations to Kieran Gall and Connagh Launchbury for their excellent performances in the Junior Male races and Victoria Bradbury and Charlotte Huddart in the Junior Female category.
These four athletes currently hold the top two ranking positions in their categories. Victoria and Charlotte also attained a minimum qualification time (MQT), also required for selection.

Rugeley Rifle Club in Staffordshire are kindly hosting all of the GB Ranking events, of which the next ones are Saturday 8th April and Saturday 13th May.
Entries are still open for both events and we are proud to have Air Arms as our Target Sprint Official Partner for 2017.
The Ranking events are open to any athlete aged 11yrs and over. No experience of Target Sprint is needed as coaching is available and all the equipment can be provided by the organiser. You just need a good pair of trainers!
Athletes can complete in as many ranking events as they wish and their fastest time will form the first GB Ranking List for Junior Female, Junior Male, Senior Female and Senior Male.
Following the Rankings, British Shooting will be selecting a small Junior Team (20yrs and under) for the Target Sprint World Championships being held in Germany over the 23-25th June.
British Shooting are also running their popular Target Sprint National Series again, with events all over the country, to find the new British Champion 2017.
