The first Masterclass “Train to Compete, Compete to Win” was a great success on Saturday.
Athletes and Coach Observers travelled from all corners of the UK to Regional Centre, Target Sprint Cymru. Kindly hosted by Llandovery College, the action-packed day included a combination of class room, theory and practical target sprint activity.
“Amazing venue, very informative and thoroughly enjoyable,” were words heard to echo around following the day by all those involved.
Graham Bell, Erwin Weber and Robert Shawyer brought together a winning combination of skills, knowledge and experience from their respective backgrounds to the day.
Graham’s field of expertise is biomechanics and bought a wealth of knowledge to the table to help those at the Masterclass from the physical / sprint perspective. As well as gave a unique insight into other sports and world class athletes from other sports he has known and worked with at Olympic standard.
Erwin travelled over from Germany to share his insight and tips with about training to compete and competing to win at Target Sprint. Currently working with a number of world class target sprint athletes and heavily involved in the German Target Sprint set-up, Erwin was an invaluable source of information drawing on his depth of competition experience over many years at the highest level.
Robert did a brilliant job of leading the day’s delivery and adding invaluable content helping athletes create or develop their individual training structure.
Gorgs Geikie, British Shooting Events and Commercial Coordinator said; “having competed on the Olympic stage, it was brilliant to see everyone leave focused and able to take away so much to help them as an individual, and to be better athletes.”
Finally, a huge thank you to Robert, Mike Powell and all at Llandovery College, Dave Carpenter, Huw Adams and all at the Regional Centre, Target Sprint Cymru for making our first masterclass truly world class. “Perfect-Preparation-Prevents-Poor-Performance” not only applies to athletic performance, but also life and events like this.
