We at British Shooting are excited to be a part of the Gilwell Reunion this coming weekend, led by Doug Pepper and team.
This annual Scouting event is an opportunity for adults in Scouting to experience an active, educational weekend and to meet up with friends old and new from across the globe. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about projects and programme activities, share knowledge, network and have fun!
Target Sprint Educator Doug Pepper will be delivering two Target Sprint Leader courses, which we are delighted are fully subscribed.
Target Sprint and shooting activity is no stranger to the Gilwell Reunion. In previous years Stephen Batchelor, also a Target Sprint Educator, has introduced the activity of target sprint to this audience very successfully and we are thrilled to be building on this.
Chrissy Monksummers and team will again be providing further shooting activity over the weekend, so together, continuing to best promote a number of opportunities for shooting activity within the Scout movement.
We would like to thank Stephen Batchelor, Andrew Brookes and Doug Pepper all of whom are Target Sprint Educators and very much involved with the Scouting community, for their support and guidance with particular reference to the Gilwell Reunion 2018.
Andrew Brookes commented; “I think from a scout activity perspective, target sprint offers scouts a different and exciting shooting experience that can widen the appeal of shooting as an activity within scouting.
“It offers the young person who enjoys shooting, an energetic and fast moving alternative to pure target shooting. And the more athletic young person, a fast moving sport that has the shooting element in it.
“For leaders and organisers it is fairly easy to set up and run and can give another exciting activity for a group to take part in.”
Stephen Batchelor said; “Target Sprint is introducing more and more people into the sport of target shooting. The events which run both within scouting and outside of scouting continue to be friendly social events, where encouragement between athletes seems to shine through. I am so pleased to be involved with the Target Sprint journey in the UK.”
Doug Pepper added; “Becoming a Target Sprint Leader means more than getting a certificate. It means you can run your own events, with the backing of British Shooting, and you have access to the experience and resources in the Regional centre, meaning you can become a feeder hub for the region.
“Knowing that you may be starting the athletes of the future on their path to success is incredibly rewarding, and it doesn’t stop there. There are opportunities to gain more experience and step into other roles as your experience develops.”
