Target Sprint took yet another step forward over the weekend when on 29 April 2018 the second British Shooting Target Sprint Leaders Course was run.
Hosted at the picturesque Llandovery College Regional Centre venue the course was attended by ten participants from across Wales eager to learn and contribute to the progression of this dynamic sport.
The day started in the upper floor sports centre lounge with lecture style teaching interspersed with educational and discussion provoking video presentations. Later in the afternoon the attendees moved down to the Sports Hall where they were joined by Bethany Keenan (also taking the Leaders Course) and Emily Shawyer both current GB Squad athletes for a demonstration of target sprint shooting and some sprint/transitional shooting with differing coaching drills on show. Several of the participants further engaged by actively taking part in some of the demonstration drills as target sprint athletes (absent just the running part).
The event was filled with many questions, many ideas, many smiles, lots of audience contribution and importantly with lots and lots of enthusiasm to spread target sprint out to clubs and associations; to further interact with and support the Regional Centre; and for some to seek to open new target sprint Hubs.
A big thank to Llandovery College for hosting the event and for the use of their excellent facilities at the Regional Centre and a big thank you from Robert Shawyer the Educator to all those who attended and made the day productive and fun!
