Wycliffe College continue their enthusiasm for Target Sprint in 2018.
Following hosting a National Series event in 2017, Wycliffe College ran their own Target Sprint event on their grounds on Friday 23rd March. The event was predominantly for their own students, but they also opened it up to other schools interested.
20 athletes participated between the ages of Year 4-13. Thomas Bury from Wycliffe College, (Junior Men National Champion 2017) produced the fastest time of the day (5;55mins) closely followed by Jamie Davies (6;35mins). The following day Jamie went on to compete at the GB Selection Qualification event at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex where he successfully attained a minimum consideration time (MCT) to be invited to the Final GB Selection weekend on the 14/15th April. Emma Livingston produced the fastest female time of the day with 7;33mins.
Gorgs Geikie, British Shooting’s Events and Commercial Coordinator said: “It’s fantastic to see Wycliffe College moving forwards with Target Sprint in such a strong and positive manner. The drive and passion of Shaun Garley and Matt Archer, supported by the Head of PE Andy Naish, is what’s really giving their students the best opportunity with the sport. The results on a national level that the school are producing is a credit to all their hard work and we at British Shooting look forward to supporting them further as the college work towards becoming an official Target Sprint Hub.”
