Target Sprint Safety Certificate is a combined running & shooting athlete safety, competency and awareness award.
British Shooting require athletes to have a current TS Safety Certificate in order to compete in British Shooting permitted events and be eligible for GB Team selection.
British Shooting, National Smallbore Rifle Association and the Council for Cadet Rifle Shooting recommend all Target Sprint Organisers, Hubs and Regional Centres require athletes have a current TS Safety Certificate as a pre-requisite to participation in their activities. This is to ensure events and activities enable fun, safe and fair competition for all.
Please Note: As a result of Covid-19 all Target Sprint Safety Certificates expire on 31.12.2021
From 2022 onwards, the Safety Certificate programme will return to an annual programme.
Annual renewal date: 1st January.
Annual expiry date: 31st December.
VALID? First time Target Sprint Safety Certificates and Renewals are valid from: 1st January – 31st December.
How to attain your FIRST TS Safety Certificate:
- WHO? People who hold a current Range Conducting Officer Qualification can authorise TS Safety Certificates.
- WHERE? At Hubs, British Shooting permitted Events (unless otherwise stated) and any suitable location where airgun shooting is allowed.
- HOW?

- CLICK HERE to enter a local event and contact the Event Coordinator.
- COST? The standard price is £10, chargeable by the Assessor.
- VALID? 1st January – 31st December.
- IMPORTANT: TS Safety Certificates are only valid when the athlete has registered it online. Your assessor will guide you through the process on the day you achieve the certificate. See a step-by-step guide below.

It’s the responsibility of the Athlete to successfully registered their Target Sprint Safety Certificate. Failing to do so will result in the certificate not being valid.
TS Safety Certificate ONLINE RENEWAL:
- Online Renewal Eligibility: Have you attained a Target Sprint Safety Certificate in 2018 or 2019?
- If you have you are eligible to renew ONLINE.
- If you haven’t you will need to attain a NEW TS Safety Certificate.
- VALID? 1st January – 31st December.
- NEXT RENEWAL OPENS: Renewal opens for the next Certificate period, in the preceding October. (E.g. 1st Oct 2021 for the certificate period 1st Jan-31st Dec. 2022).
- COST? Annual renewal price £10.

HOW TO award a Target Sprint Safety Certificate:
- Download/print a form for each athlete.
- Complete form with athlete. When satisfied, sign and date.
- Assist athlete to photograph or scan form.
- IMPORTANT: Visit www.targetsprint.com/events/ts-safety-certificate with the athlete, to assist them register their certificate.
